The 3 Principles of Lasting Flexibility
This method is built on three key principles that train your body and nervous system to release tension and create lasting change.
1. Become a "Wet Noodle"
Muscles stretch best when they are fully relaxed. In these sessions, we use gravity and props to release muscular engagement, allowing for deeper and safer stretches.
2. Breathe to Relax
We use a specific 4:8 breathing technique (inhale for 4, exhale for 8). This breathing pattern is scientifically shown to stimulate a parasympathetic nervous system response, turning off your body's natural stretch reflex and allowing tissues to lengthen.
3. Time Under Passive Tension (TUPT)
Quick stretches don't create change. To stimulate real lengthening in your muscle and fascia, you need to hold passive stretches for 2 to 5 minutes. This gives your nervous system time to adapt and your tissues time to respond.
